British GT and BRDC British F3 to kick off mega August at Brands

Friday, July 28 2017

The Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit will roar with the sounds of exotic supercars next weekend (5-6 August) when the British GT Championship returns for its traditional summer enduro at the world-famous venue. The British GT action will be complemented by a co-headline slot for the BRDC British F3 Championship, a fierce proving ground for young drivers chasing the F1 dream.
British GT is home to some of the most mouth-watering racing cars you can see in the UK, including race-going versions of many of the planet's most desirable dream cars. These will include the Ferrari 488 and the Lamborghini Huracan, in addition to British favourites such as the Aston Martin Vantage and Bentley Continental GT.
The high performance wonders will star in a showpiece two-hour race on the Sunday afternoon, with pit-stops, driver changes, and the resulting strategy variations contributing to the intrigue. There will be a rolling start too to get things underway at pace, whilst a Le Mans-style multi-class structure means that lapped traffic will play a role and fearless overtaking will be the key to success.
British GT cars are flame-spitting monsters, complete with distinct engine tones and aggressive aerodynamic bodywork - they have to be seen in the flesh to be truly appreciated!
This year's British GT battle is an Anglo-Italian affair with the Lamborghini Huracan of Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen currently leading the way by a slender margin from the Bentley Continental GT of Seb Morris and Rick Parfitt, son of the legendary Status Quo guitarist.
BRDC British F3 will share the spotlight at the Kent circuit, with a crop of very promising young drivers, all vying to prove that they're the next big thing in single-seater racing. F3 racing in the UK has produced many of the sport's biggest names - from Ayrton Senna to Jenson Button - and this year's field are all desperate to follow suit.
The BRDC British F3 drivers will burn rubber in three races across the weekend, all behind the wheel of a stunning Tatuus-Cosworth single-seater. These identical cars create a level playing field which promotes very close racing throughout the pack.
British drivers currently occupy the top four positions in a truly international grid which features drivers from as far afield as Brazil, and Kenya. Enaam Ahmed is currently the leading light, with Toby Sowery, James Pull, and Ben Hingeley all in hot pursuit. American Cameron Das is the leading overseas driver in fifth position.
In addition to all of that, there will be an extensive support race programme, including touring car-style action from the MINI CHALLENGE, VAG Trophy, and Volkswagen Racing Cup, with additional GT entertainment to be supplied by the Ginetta Racing Drives Club.
Adult tickets for the British GT Championship and BRDC British F3 Championship at Brands Hatch on 5-6 August are available online in advance from £19 until midday on Wednesday 2 August, and £25 on the gate thereafter. Under-13s go free.
