Clean sweep for British F3's Ahmed in Snetterton testing

Friday, August 25 2017

BRDC British Formula 3 Championship leader Enaam Ahmed made it a clean sweep of fastest test times today (Friday) at Snetterton, ahead of this weekend's rounds where the Briton could clinch the 2017 title.

Having headed every session in the final day of testing before the weekend, Ahmed was in danger of losing out in the final test to Carlin team-mate James Pull, who is aiming for his maiden British F3 win at Snetterton. However, Ahmed's last gasp effort of a 1m43.458s was enough to knock Pull off the top spot, with the pair separated by 0.149s. It was almost a second slower than his benchmark time, set in the second session.

Lanan Racing's Toby Sowery, who still holds a slim chance of taking the title fight to Donington next month, was third fastest in the combined classification. Carlin's Cameron Das was fourth overall, his best time just over half a second slower than Ahmed's headline effort.

In fifth place was Douglas Motorsport's Callan O'Keeffe, another driver searching for his first category win. He headed Brands Hatch winner, Double R's Krishnaraaj Mahadik, with Chase Owen seventh.

Title challenger Ben Hingeley was back in eighth place, the Fortec driver aiming to return to the winners' circle this weekend, having taken three so far this season. The top ten was completed by Jordan Cane, a winner at Snetterton in May, and Omar Ismail.
