MCE BSB’s Iddon: “I am bored of the monkey on my back now!”

Thursday, April 27 2017

Stockport's Christian Iddon arrives at his home round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park this Bank Holiday weekend (29 April - 1 May) gunning for an elusive first victory in Cheshire.

The Tyco BMW rider currently holds third in the overall standings behind the JG Speedfit Kawasaki pairing, having scored a second and two third places so far this season. He came tantalisingly close to a debut victory last year at the Cheshire circuit, missing out by just 0.135s at the line to Richard Cooper.

Iddon said: "I am excited for this weekend; we have had a good start to the season and we need to keep that momentum going now. We tried some things at the test last week that didn't really work out, but we have a direction for the weekend and sometimes you have to go back to move forward.

"We want to come out this weekend and take it to them; the JG Speedfit Kawasaki boys have been the ones to beat so far this year, but as always in this championship you never know who is going to be in the mix on raceday. I expect Shakey to come back stronger too this weekend, but it will be anybody's race and I am bored of the monkey being on my back now!"

Meanwhile Iddon will be joined by Alastair Seeley in the Tyco BMW squad this weekend. Seeley returns to the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship grid, replacing Davide Giugliano who is ruled out of action due to injuries sustained during round two at Brands Hatch.

Seeley said: "It's always a pleasure to come back and race for Tyco BMW and to get an opportunity to jump back into the premier class aboard an official BMW Motorrad supported S1000RR is an offer I wasn't going to turn down. I've had some decent results in the Superbike class before at Oulton Park and knowing how well prepared the Tyco BMW's are, I'll be looking to be a decent wing-man for Christian Iddon at the Bank Holiday meeting."

Tickets for the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship are available on the gate for £10 on Saturday, £15 on Sunday and £34 on main raceday Monday, with free entry for under-13s. For more information and to book call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
