Former Stig Ben Collins to compete at Tunerfest South

Wednesday, June 15 2016

Ben Collins, known to many as 'The Stig' following his anonymous appearances on BBC's Top Gear, will compete in the Time Attack Championship during this Sunday's (19 June) Tunerfest event at Brands Hatch.

Ben regularly appeared as The Stig on BBC's award winning Top Gear program for eight years. As the programme's 'tame racing driver' he set benchmark lap times in a wide range of performance and road cars, in addition to coaching dozens of celebrities. Ben is a successful racing driver in his own right, having competed in and won races across a diverse arena of Motorsport including GTs, Touring Cars and stock cars.

BenCollinsAs a stunt driving expert Ben works on numerous Hollywood blockbusters and has doubled as James Bond in the last three 007 movies. He has also successfully authored a book on his career and produced his own stunt driving film.

The Time Attack challenge should suit Ben, as he'll be able to put his years of setting Top Gear Power Board times to good use in the event, although unlike in the world of TV, he'll only have a few chances to post the perfect lap. Driving a highly-modified Ford Fiesta ST promoting the Project CARS video game, he will compete against other drivers in souped-up machinery in a contest for the fastest lap of the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. He will be participating as a Single Round Entry in the Pocket Rocket Class of the championship for vehicles with engines of a lower capacity than 1750cc.

Ben said: "I'm honoured to be taking part in the Time Attack Championship driving the Project CARS Airtec Fiesta ST. Every day with Project CARS we are further blurring the lines between real life, so I hope that everyone racing online will have as much fun as I will this weekend"

Visitors will be able to meet Ben, plus all of his Time Attack rivals and get a close-up look at their cars during the lunchtime pitlane walkabout.

Tickets for TunerFest South at Brands Hatch on Sunday 19 June are available for £18 with free entry for under 13s. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
