O'Halloran launches to the top by 0.007s in opening practice

Saturday, August 27 2016

Jason O'Halloran topped the opening MCE Insurance British Superbike free practice session at Cadwell Park, carving ahead of Shane 'Shakey' Byrne by just 0.007s in the final ten minutes at the challenging Lincolnshire circuit.

Byrne and Leon Haslam had been pushing the top of the times throughout the session, but the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider had his run ended prematurely when he crashed out unhurt at the top of the Mountain.

The Honda Racing charge continued though and Aussie O'Halloran wasted no time in translating his high-flying Mountain style into the fastest time of the session, to hold off the Be Wiser Ducati rider and Lee Jackson who moved into third in the closing stages.

Jackson suffered a technical problem with the Buildbase BMW in the final two minutes of the session, bringing out the red flag, but the local contender held on to third ahead of Luke Mossey and Richard Cooper.

Haslam held sixth despite his crash ahead of his JG Speedfit Kawasaki team-mate Peter Hickman and Bennetts Suzuki's Tommy Bridewell. Billy McConnell and James Ellison completed the top ten.
