F1 and IndyCar stars donate items to Justin Wilson Charity Auction

Tuesday, September 22 2015

A charity auction to raise money for the Justin Wilson Children's Fund, following Justin's tragic death following an IndyCar accident last month, is now underway on eBay. Fans and collectors can purchase unique items of memorabilia, including signed helmets and racing overalls donated by his rivals and friends in IndyCar racing, as well as many items from Formula 1 drivers, including World Champions Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso. Proceeds from the auction will help support Justin's two young daughters.

Whilst his reputation as a first-class racer was second-to-none, it was Justin's friendly persona and family-man lifestyle away from the track that made him so popular with his competitors. As a result, the global racing community has rallied to support his family at this difficult time, with notable contributions also made by popular personalities from other areas of the American sporting scene and the entertainment industry.

The list of items already on sale includes:

  • Jenson's Button's McLaren helmet, worn by the 2009 World Champion this season
  • Fernando Alonso's overalls, boots and gloves, worn by the double World Champion in the 2015 Austrian Grand Prix
  • Signed Daniel Ricciardo Red Bull overalls, worn by the Australian this season
  • No fewer than 16 helmets supplied by drivers who competed in the 2015 IndyCar season finale at the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma, including Juan-Pablo Montoya, plus racing legend Mario Andretti
  • Memorabilia from NASCAR, IMSA, WEC, GRC and other racing series
  • Memorabila from other sports, inclduing NFL, soccer and UFC
  • Roger Daltrey-signed microphone, which was used when The Who played Glastonbury in 2015

Fans who wish to support the fund by selling items of their own are invited to do so through the Graham Rahal Foundation, whilst donations can be made by clicking here.
