Epic MCE BSB title race set to be decided in Kent this October

Tuesday, September 29 2015

There's just over two weeks until the final round of the 2015 MCE British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch takes place on 16 to 18 October - and it's a shaping up to be an epic three-way title fight between Josh Brookes, Shane Byrne and James Ellison! The champion will be crowned in Kent after three races on the majestic Grand Prix circuit (with one on Saturday after qualifying, and the remaining two on main raceday Sunday). Australian Brookes will be the favourite as he targets his first-ever MCE BSB title, having taken 9 wins from the last 11 races, but local hero Byrne is still in the hunt for a record-busting fifth championship, whilst James Ellison has overcome injury to leave himself just 41 points behind Brookes ahead of this weekend's encounter at Silverstone.

Tyco BMW pairing Michael Laverty and Tommy Bridewell retain an outside chance, whilst Honda's Dan Linfoot requires a miracle to haul himself back into contention.

Other riders likely to be in the mix for race wins include dazzling rookie Luke Mossey, who grabbed a podium last time out at Assen, John Hopkins on the Ducati and Buildbase BMW's Richard Cooper.

Current MCE BSB Championship Standings:
1. Josh Brookes, Milwaukee Yamaha, 603
2. Shane Byrne, PBM Kawasaki, 575 (-28)
3. James Ellison, JG Speedfit Kawasaki, 562 (-41)
4. Michael Laverty, Tyco BMW, 523 (-80)
5. Tommy Bridewell, Tyco BMW, 515 (-88)
6. Dan Linfoot, Honda Racing, 509 (-94)

25 points are awarded for each win, meaning 75 are up for grabs at Brands Hatch.
