Fireworks on and off the track as Snetterton season ends in style

Monday, October 19 2015

Snetterton's 2015 season of motor racing events will end with a bang on Sunday 8 November, when a big fireworks display will light up the Norfolk sky at the end of a weekend that will include the debut of an exciting new car that will rocket future racing stars towards their Formula One goal.

Events on track will be headlined by the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Autumn Trophy, which has introduced young upcoming drivers to car racing in its first three years, including Wisbech's rising star George Russell, who is currently winning races at international level. The opening rounds of the Autumn Trophy will feature the first competitive appearance of a new Tatuus-designed machine, which is more powerful than the outgoing car and built from F1-style carbon-fibre.

The new BRDC F4 car is several seconds quicker than its forebear, and the opening rounds of the Autumn Trophy will be one of the fastest races at Snetterton this year. There are two races each on Saturday and Sunday, plus qualifying sessions, offering plenty of opportunities for talent-spotting.

In addition to the four headlining BRDC F4 races, there will be a further ten support races from a variety of machinery, including the KICK Start Energy Ginetta Junior Winter Series for 14-17-year-old drivers. The series, which supports the British Touring Car Championship throughout the summer, is renowned for plenty of thrills and spills from the tiny sportscars.

The weekend will also see entertainment from the Dunlop Mini 7 Challenge Invitation Races for the enduring classic Mini. There will also be plenty of variety in the MSVR All-Comers race, which is open to saloons and sportscars.

Visitors will have a great view of the action from Snetterton's panoramic spectator banks, which will provide an even better vantage point for a spectacular fireworks display that will end the weekend in style on Sunday evening. The display is set to light up the night sky at approximately 5:00 pm, once racing has been completed.
