Lando Norris to contest 2016 BRDC Formula 4 Championship with Carlin

Monday, November 30 2015

Lando Norris, the 2015 MSA Formula Champion, will graduate to the BRDC Formula 4 Championship in 2016 with Carlin. The 16-year-old will combine his BRDC F4 commitments with a programme in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and NEC series and is the first driver to be announced in Carlin's inaugural line-up.

Norris, who hails from Glastonbury near Bristol, already has experience of the new Tatuus-Cosworth car having competed in the final round of this year's Autumn Trophy at Brands Hatch. Norris, driving for HHC Motorsport, impressed by claiming two wins in addition to two other runner-up finishes, and ended the series in fifth place, despite missing the first round at Snetterton.

Speaking about his BRDC F4 programme, Norris said, "I'm very happy to be with Carlin again in 2016. We had a great season together this year, I learnt a huge amount and had a great time with the team as well. 2016 will be a busy season, but it will be nice to have the continuity of working with Carlin and racing on British tracks again in the BRDC F4 Championship."

Trevor Carlin added, "We're delighted that Lando stays with us for 2016 and that we have the opportunity to work with this exciting young driver again. Lando did a fantastic job in MSA Formula this year and we were very proud to help him take the title. The progress he made throughout the year, from a young karter to his first single-seater championship was incredible and we look forward to continuing that positive progress again in 2016. We are building a very strong BRDC F4 team and preparations are already very much underway. Despite not completing the full programme, we're sure that Lando will put in some exciting performances next season."

Norris will begin his BRDC F4 test plan in the next few weeks, as well as competing in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand over the winter months.
