Brookes sets fastest lap of Snetterton 300 to stay top

Wednesday, May 27 2015

Josh Brookes continued to up the pace in the second session of the day at the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship official test at Snetterton, setting the fastest lap of the test so far and smashing the previous best recorded time on the 300 circuit by 0.332s.

Brookes' blistering pace continued as his fastest lap came towards the end of the session, shattering the previous record to prove the pace of the Milwaukee Yamaha. The Australian tipped off at Montreal on his final lap, sliding off and was able to pick the bike back up and return to the pitlane.

His arch rival Shane 'Shakey' Byrne was second fastest for the PBM Kawasaki team but 0.982s adrift of Brookes with championship leader James Ellison holding third place as he too improved his pace as the times tumbled as the teams took advantage of the ideal conditions at Snetterton.

Jason O'Halloran climbed to fourth for Honda Racing as he moved ahead of Jakub Smrz who had been running second in the previous session for Moto Rapido Ducati as Stuart Easton dropped to sixth position.

Danny Buchan was the leading Be Wiser Kawasaki in seventh place ahead of Lee Jackson on the lone Buildbase BMW whilst Ryuichi Kiyonari remains back home in Japan. Bennetts Suzuki pairing Josh Waters and Christian Iddon completed the top ten.
