Ellison: “I need to leave the official test fastest”

Tuesday, March 24 2015

James Ellison has declared the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship battle begins from the official test on Thursday (26 March) at Donington Park as the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider vows to fight to be at the top of the timesheets ahead of the Easter opening round (4/5/6 April).

Ellison has twice had his title hopes dashed by injury, but in his second consecutive season with the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team he is feeling confident about the new campaign and is determined to kick start the year by heading the pack into Donington Park.

Ellison said: "I think there is more anticipation for the Donington Park test as it is the only time we are all on track together before the opening round. We know we improved in Spain, but everybody else improves every year too so we will be interested to see where we are at now compared to everyone else. Up until now it is hard to gauge as there has been no official timing and everyone has tested at different circuits.

"I am looking forward to seeing what the JG Speedfit Kawasaki feels like around Donington Park as it felt like we had improved some of the areas we needed to when we were in Spain, but now we have to see how what it is like on the UK tracks.

"This official test is very important - this is a pre-race event and there is no doubt in my mind that we need to leave there quickest. There is no other plan or goal, we need to work hard and leave knowing we are where we need to be for the opening round. If we don't leave there in the top three then I will be very disappointed because I feel that we have the pace. This is an important part of the season and we need to come out at the top."
