Ellison ups the ante to topple Brookes and Byrne from the top

Saturday, June 20 2015

MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship leader James Ellison saved his best to last in the final free practice session at Snetterton this morning to topple Josh Brookes and Shane 'Shakey' Byrne from the top of the times in the final moments.

As the contenders look ahead to this afternoon's Datatag Qualifying session the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team emerged on top and although Brookes suffered a technical problem with the Milwaukee Yamaha during the session, the Milwaukee Yamaha team turned it around to be back fighting for the top spot.

Byrne and Brookes had again shuffled positions at the top of the times, but Ellison was closing down and in the final ten minutes of the session forged ahead. Whilst the top three jostled for positions, Honda Racing's Jason O'Halloran had climbed the order to fourth. The Australian's surge up the order moved him ahead of Tommy Bridewell on the Tyco BMW and Chris Walker on the Be Wiser Kawasaki.

Broc Parkes was seventh fastest by just 0.001s as he completed a double dose of Milwaukee Yamahas inside the top ten with Howie Mainwaring, Jakub Smrz and Filip Backlund completing the top ten featuring nine different teams.

Ryuichi Kiyonari again missed out on the top ten this morning, setting the twelfth fastest time on the Buildbase BMW.
