Brookes back on top in Snetterton warm up ahead of race one

Sunday, June 21 2015

Josh Brookes hit the top of the times in this morning's MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship warm up session as the Milwaukee Yamaha rider edged out pole-sitter Shane 'Shakey' Byrne by 0.153s.

As the contenders prepare for the opening race of the day at Snetterton, Brookes held the top spot and although Byrne was closing in over the final minutes of the session, the Australian fended off his challenge.

Quattro Plant Kawasaki had a strong warm up session with both riders featuring in the top five for the first time this season with Howie Mainwaring ahead of local contender Luke Mossey as he pushed Broc Parkes to fifth.

Peter Hickman was sixth fastest on the RAF Reserves BMW ahead of Tommy Bridewell and Filip Backlund, who had fired the Anvil Hire TAG Kawasaki inside the top ten. Michael Laverty and James Ellison completed the top ten whilst James Ellison completed just two laps after his crash yesterday.
