Agostini returns to Snetterton: “It is fantastic”

Saturday, June 20 2015

15-times World Champion Giacomo Agostini has arrived at Snetterton for the fourth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship and the Italian Grand Prix legend declared the new circuit layout as 'fantastic'.

Agostini will be completing a lap on an MV Agusta later in the day before continuing to support their British Championship campaign - together with the Italian manufacturer he celebrated 14 World titles, ten TT victories and more than 250 race wins.

'Ago' has previously celebrated success at the Norfolk circuit during his illustrious career including the 1972 Snetterton 'Race of Aces' and his first and a rare four wheel podium in the 1979 Aurora AFX British Formula 1 Championship.

Agostini said: "I am very happy to come back here to Snetterton; it is all new and fantastic. I have done just one lap in the car so far and it is very good and very safe as there is a lot of space here. I have won here before on the old circuit and I have raced on two and four wheels but I think I prefer two!

"It is fantastic and I liked to come to England to race because I think the European riders learnt a lot because there were different circuits and good riders. I remember after one time that I raced in England I went back home after two months, I had another race in Imola and I went 1 and a half seconds faster than before. I thought 'why is this' and it was because I learned a lot in England so I was stronger when I went back. It is good here, there is a lot of competition."
