Blancpain GT Series organisers predict thrilling season

Friday, January 16 2015

SRO, organisers of the Blancpain GT Series, expect the championship's second season to be even more spectacular than its first. Entries are predicted to increase for the series, which will visit Brands Hatch on 9/10 May.

An increased prize fund of over one million euros, with a greater share available to teams competing in both sprint and endurance rounds, has seen a surge of entries for the Blancpain Sprint Series events.

Brands Hatch will hold the second sprint race of the Blancpain GT Series, one month after the opening event at France's Nogaro circuit.

Entries are expected to represent the world's best supercar manufacturers, including Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren. The series has also attracted former F1 drivers, with Paralympic gold medallist Alex Zanardi, Andrea Montermini and Markus Winkelhock seen in last year's championship.

Stephane Ratel, CEO and founder of the SRO Motorsports Group, said: "With a prize fund of 1,375 million euro, it is clear that the Blancpain GT Series is an attractive offer to all GT teams. By putting the Blancpain Sprint and Blancpain Endurance Series under a common banner we were able to increase our worldwide coverage, be it on television, on social media or in the written press. I am pleased to say that a great number of teams have shown interest to be part of our Series, a Series which in 2014 has shown to be among the most competitive motorsport competitions on the planet. I am very much looking forward to 2015, which promises to be even more exciting than last year's inaugural season of the Blancpain GT Series."

Tickets for the Blancpain GT Series on 9/10 May are available from £21, with free entry for children aged 12 and under at both events. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
