It’s Turkington v Plato for the BTCC title at Brands Hatch

Monday, September 29 2014

Colin Turkington and Jason Plato will go head-to-head for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch in two weeks' time (11/12 October), as the 2014 title goes down to the final three races on the famous Grand Prix circuit.

MG's Plato took two victories at last weekend's Silverstone rounds to narrow the gap to Turkington's eBay Motors BMW as the championship heads into the Brands Hatch finale. Turkington has a 50-point lead but Plato has a fantastic record at the Kent circuit, where he caused a sensation last year when he came within an ace of stealing the title from Andrew Jordan.

After Silverstone's three races Plato said: "I've been in a fighting mood today and it was great to take those two wins. Looking ahead our focus now is to win the Manufacturers' title for MG and that means that both myself and Sam have to finish all three races at Brands Hatch. I'm going to go out there and try and win more races."

Turkington said: "As we all thought, it's going to go down to the wire! We've put ourselves in the best possible position going into Brands, we just need another weekend like this one where things go our way."

A record grid of 31 cars has provided ten different winners this year, and with seven champions in the field, it'll be tough to predict who will take the chequered flag in each of the three races, including a reversed-grid finale. Immediately after this race the BTCC champion will be crowned at a presentation ceremony on the grid.

A packed support bill will also see titles decided in the Renault UK Clio Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Ginetta GT Supercup, Ginetta Juniors and Formula Ford GB. The action isn't just limited to the track, with a free pit walk and autograph session, aerobatic display, funfair and free children's adventure playground.

Tickets for the BTCC finale on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on 11/12 October are available from £26, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
