Toyota GT86 to give first-timers the experience of rally driving

Wednesday, October 22 2014

The experience of rally-driving in a thoroughbred sports car is now open to drivers without a competition licence, following the introduction of the acclaimed Toyota GT86 to the RallyMaster activity at famous race circuits Brands Hatch in Kent and Oulton Park in Cheshire.

RallyMaster makes it possible for holders of standard driving licences to enjoy driving at speed through a rally stage, on a mixture of smooth and loose road surfaces, sliding the car through bends and competing against the clock. Participants receive two 20-minute driving sessions with expert instruction, with an experienced co-driver calling out pace notes. Instruction covers specialised driving techniques such as braking points, setting-up the car for corners, handbrake control, and drifting. The experience also includes a high-speed passenger lap with a professional rally driver.

Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of RallyMaster-operator MSV, said: "Proper rally driving is all about sideways drifting and I am thrilled that MSV has launched an outstanding rally driving experience using our superb new Toyota GT86 cars - with that essential rear wheel drive. Power-on full opposite-lock slides will now be skills our RallyMaster guests can learn in our specially prepared GT86s - guaranteed to produce big grins at the time and terrific memories and photos to take away!"

Chris Hayes, Marketing Director Toyota (GB) PLC, said: "The GT86 is an ideal machine for the rally stage, it has been designed and engineered to deliver sheer driving pleasure. We hope it will provide an exciting and rewarding experience for everyone taking part."

The fleet of ten Toyota GT86 rally cars will be available to drive from the start of 2015, and 12-month gift vouchers are available to purchase now from MSV's dedicated driving experience website, www.msvdrivinggifts.com
