Brands set for a spectacular celebration this weekend

Friday, October 31 2014

Brands Hatch is set for the last major racing event of the season this weekend (1/2 November), with truck racing titles to be decided and fun for all the family, including a huge fireworks display on Sunday.

One of the biggest grids in recent years will contest the five British Truck Racing Championship races, and the final three of these on Sunday is certain to decide two titles. Divison One is being fought out between reigning double champion Mat Summerfield and Chris Levett, whilst Simon Reid and Ryan Smith will duel for Division Two honours. A total of 23 of the 1000 horsepower machines are entered for the races, which incorporate a reverse-grid system to guarantee plenty of overtaking. On the 1.2-mile Indy circuit, the action will be crowded!

You can meet the drivers and get up close to the trucks during a free gridwalk at 12:15pm on Sunday before the second race of the day.

There are championship scores to be settled in the support categories too. NASCAR-style Pickup Trucks and pocket-sized Legends hot rods are joined by the Cannon's Motor Spares Tin Tops Championship, Quaife Intermaque League and Quaife Motorsport News saloons. With a packed 20-race programme, expect lots of breathtaking action throughout the weekend.

The fun continues away from the track, with a feast of family entertainment. The Brands Hatch go-karting circuit and free children's adventure playground will be open all weekend, with much more planned for Sunday.

A traditional fairground will offer a variety of rides and stalls, whilst the Kidspace! Marquee features childrens' entertainers, balloon modelling and a Punch and Judy show. Adults can join in the fun with Red Dragon Monster Truck rides and marvel at the wood carving artistry of Xtreme Chainshaw.

A huge display of more than 150 show trucks will also line the circuit on Sunday, before taking to the track for a parade into dusk when racing ends. This parade will coincide with the fireworks display, which is due to take place at 6pm.
