Brands Hatch stars on ITV's Saturday Night Takeaway

Saturday, March 29 2014

Brands Hatch featured on tonight's edition of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, ahead of raceday for the first round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

A section of the hugely popular ITV primetime show featured a mock race between ten BTCC cars and grandmother Lyn Cahill. Starting from pole position in her Mazda Bongo, she amazed her watching family by racing the championship's finest as part of a series of crazy stunts in the people carrier.

Sadly for Lyn her pole position didn't last long as reigning champion Andrew Jordan, Jason Plato, Gordon Shedden, Colin Turkington plus several others passed her at high speed on the Indy circuit, which will stage the opening round of the 2014 season tomorrow.

"I've had so much fun," said Lyn, after filming took place on Friday afternoon to the amazement of spectators who had gathered to watch support race testing. "It was a bit daunting being out there on the circuit with all the racing cars, and the noise was pretty deafening, but I was really getting into it by the end of the race."

As part of her preparation, Lyn was shown around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit by experienced circuit instructor Pete Alexander. Whilst an NGTC version of the Mazda Bongo is not expected to appear on the grid, 30 BTCC cars, including seven champions, are expected to line up for three races tomorrow.

Tickets for the opening round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch on 29/30 March are available on the gate for £14 on Saturday and £32 on Sunday, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
