Team BMR switch to all-VW Passat line-up for Snetterton

Tuesday, July 29 2014

Race-winning Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship squad Team BMR will switch to an all-VW Passat CC line-up at this weekend's (2/3 August) Snetterton round in a surprise move.

Oulton Park race winner Aron Smith and double champion Alain Menu have raced the silver machines since the opening round at Brands Hatch but team mates Warren Scott and Jack Goff will now swap their Vauxhall Insignias for the German brand's saloons.

Scott, who debuted a single Passat for the team at Snetterton last year, said: "It's fantastic to be able to bring the four VWs to Snetterton and it's the result of a lot of hard work by everyone at the team.

"It was always part of the plan but we weren't absolutely sure we'd be ready by mid-season. Thankfully all the effort has paid off and we're delighted to be able to start the second half of the season at full strength.

"It's an exciting time for us. This is all part of the overall development and progression of Team BMR and we hope to have further announcements in the coming weeks."

Goff raced the Insignia to its maiden podium finish in the final round of 2013, and is delighted to make the switch to a race-winning car. He said: "It's going to be great to have four guys all working on the same thing. To begin with we thought that there would be quite a bit of cross-over between the Vauxhall and the VW, but they've turned out to be two completely different animals. Now we can all share data and make the VW as fast as it can be.

"The team has done an absolutely fantastic job to get the car prepared. I went down to the workshop last week and couldn't believe how quickly everything had come together. To be honest they proved that they could do it at the start of the year, getting all the cars ready, so this really just shows how professional and efficient this group of guys is.

"My first run in the car will be at Snetterton, so I'm not setting wild targets for this weekend. We know the car can win races, so as the season progresses I want to get up to running podium pace and hopefully pick up a few trophies along the way. The focus will be on developing the car and making it as fast as possible."
