MSV unveils bumper 2014 race calendar

Friday, February 28 2014

MSV's 2014 race calendar has been completed, with over 125 race events almost every weekend from March until November! Tickets are now on sale for every meeting, starting at just £10, with free entry for children aged 12 and under.

The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship will visit all four MSV circuits over seven occasions this season, as Shane 'Shakey' Byrne aims to avenge his 2013 title defeat. Once again he'll face opposition from fellow triple champion Ryuichi Kiyonari, plus charismatic Aussie Josh Brookes and the returning former MotoGP star John Hopkins, who nearly took the championship three years ago.

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship is set for a vintage season, with an unprecedented seven former champions in the field. Andrew Jordan will attempt to defend his maiden title against Gordon Shedden, Matt Neal, Jason Plato and Colin Turkington, plus returning legends Alain Menu and Fabrizio Giovanardi. Brands Hatch hosts the opening and closing rounds again, whilst Oulton Park and Snetterton are visited by the series during the summer.

The Blancpain GT Series heads to Brands Hatch for the first time on 17/18 May, marking the return of major international Sportscar racing for the first time since 1996. Alex Zanardi, who won two Gold Medals at the venue during the 2012 Paralympic Games, will be competing, along with a field of prestigious supercars.

More GT action can be found in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, another series currently experiencing a golden era, which visits Oulton Park, Snetterton and Brands Hatch this year. The latter two meetings also feature the British F3 International Series, a major step on the road to Formula 1.

Many future F1 drivers will be starting their car racing careers in the MSV-run BRDC Formula 4 Championship, which enters its second year as the biggest single seater series in the UK. The competitors will race at Brands Hatch (supporting Blancpain and British GT), Oulton Park and Snetterton in 2014, supporting British GT in June and later in October.

Meanwhile the spectacular British Truck Racing Championship returns to Snetterton in September, between April and November rounds at Brands Hatch, the latter ending with a major firework display. There will be plenty of thrills at the Modified Live events too, which are scheduled for Brands Hatch, Snetterton and Cadwell Park. There's a similar theme to the Superbike Live and totalkitcar Live events at Snetterton and Brands Hatch respectively, too.

Several festivals will take place at MSV circuits this year, with Mini Festivals at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park, whilst the Kent circuit pays tribute to iconic sportscar marques Lotus and Porsche. The hugely popular American SpeedFest returns in June, with exciting NASCAR action to look forward to!

Historic racing fans can pencil in the Masters Historic Festival at Brands Hatch on 24-25 May, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Grand Prix to be held at the circuit. The venue's popular Historic Superprix will once again be headlined by the Super Touring Trophy for 80s and 90s BTCC cars, as will the Oulton Park Gold Cup in August, which takes place 60 years on from the inaugural race for Formula 1 cars. Snetterton and Cadwell Park are both visited by the Historic Sports Car Club on 7/8 June and 21/22 June respectively, and the Vintage Sports Car Club in June and September respectively this year, whilst both Classic and Vintage Motorcycle meetings will take place at the Lincolnshire track.

Cadwell Park celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2014, and a special event on 3 August commemorates its motorcycling heritage, with a full race programme, parades and displays. Meanwhile the MSA Superkart British Grand Prix returns to the venue at the end of that month.

Oulton Park will also host Chris Evans' CarFest North event once again in August, combining fast cars, good food and live music. More tickets for the event, which raises funds for BBC Children in Need, will be available in the spring from the CarFest website.

Tickets for all events are available now by calling 0843 453 9000 or you can view the full calendar by clicking here.
