Brands Hatch and Oulton Park to stage Mini Festivals this year

Wednesday, February 19 2014

Mini fans will have two chances to celebrate the very little, very British icon this year with not one but two Mini Festivals in 2014. The third running of the Brands Hatch Mini Festival takes place this spring on Sunday 11 May before a second, even bigger event at Oulton Park on Saturday 12 July. Advance tickets are now on sale, starting at £14 for the Brands Hatch Mini Festival and £18 for the Oulton Park event.

The racing timetables will feature only Minis, and the Power Maxed MINI Challenge, Mini Se7ens and Mini Miglias will thrill fans at both events. Each championship is unique, and provides some of the closest racing in UK motorsport, as showcased at the first two Mini Festivals in Kent.

The Mighty Minis and Super Mighty Minis will join the bill once again on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, and some of the earliest Minis still in competition will return for the 40-minute Sanwa Trophy and the SU Carburettors Anglo-French Battle. Both races will be packed with pre-'66 Minis and the Brits have won the previous two cross-channel Mini Festival exchanges, putting the pressure on to maintain the unbeaten record.

At Oulton Park, the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup will double the dose of BMW MINIs as they make their annual trip south of the border, joining the Mini celebrations for the first time. The historic Minis of the Kent Cams Cup will ensure there will be over 10 races dedicated to the UK's favourite little car.

Away from the racetrack there will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained. After proving so popular last year, YoungDrive! taster sessions will give 11-17 year-olds the chance to get behind the wheel of a MINI alongside a DSA-trained instructor.

There will also be action on Brands Hatch's dedicated rally stage, fifty years on from the car's famous Monte Carlo victory. The owners' displays will bring together special and unique Minis and MINIs from all over the country and the Trade Village will give owners and enthusiasts the chance to find parts and memorabilia. More plans will be announced in the coming months. Mini owners can take advantage of special discounted entry to both festivals and Mini clubs are invited to display their unique collections too.

David Willey, MSV's Motorsport Events Manager said: "We look forward to welcoming Mini owners from across the country and beyond to the third annual Brands Hatch Mini Festival. We are also delighted to announce an expansion of the format with a brand new event in the north west this July. We are looking forward to welcoming Mini owners from across the country and beyond to both events, regardless of whether enthusiasts drive the original or the modern version of this enduring classic, there will be lots to enjoy at both venues!"

Tickets for the Brands Hatch Mini Festival on 11 May are available for £14 and tickets for the Oulton Park Mini Festival on 12 July are available for £18, with free admission for children aged 12 and under at both events. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
