Keen start for Trackspeed in British GT warm-up

Sunday, August 31 2014

Phil Keen headed the warm-up session in the Trackspeed Porsche ahead of today's (Sunday) Avon Tyres British GT Championship race at Brands Hatch.

Rory Butcher set the early pace in the session, and with ten minutes equating to little more than four flying laps of the Grand Prix circuit, it wasn't surprising to see his time remain at the top of the timesheets for much of the warm-up.

Nevertheless Tom Onslow-Cole lapped the circuit quicker in the Strata 21 Aston Martin, followed by Phil Keen in the Trackspeed Porsche. The Ferraris of Adam Carroll and Benny Simonsen also displaced Butcher, who handed the car over to team mate Jeff Smith late on.

When Nick Tandy got into the second Trackspeed Porsche he made it a 1-2 for the team with a time half a second adrift of Keen's. The chequered flag then came out and a last-gasp effort from Steven Kane put the M-Sport Bentley second.

Gavan Kershaw's Evora led GT4 by three tenths from local driver Bradley Ellis in the Team Parker Ginetta, with Devon Modell third in the TF Aston Martin.

The Beechdean Aston Martins were last, completing just three laps each, indicating that the team was happy to concentrate on the race, which takes place at 13:10 today.
