F1 demos headline Brands Hatch performance festival this Sunday

Friday, September 20 2013

Spectacular Formula One cars will headline a celebration of high performance at Brands Hatch on Sunday 29 September, as the annual Modified Live event returns to the Kent circuit.
On track, spectators will be able to enjoy classic Grand Prix cars from the golden era of the sport. A 1990 Benetton once campaigned by triple World Champion Nelson Piquet will be joined by the team's 1993 car, from when seven-time champion Michael Schumacher was on the driving strength. In addition, a 1970s Hesketh, from the team that gave James Hunt his F1 debut, will be demonstrated.
There will also be demonstration runs from a powerful Formula 3000 car, the category that provided a training ground for F1 drivers, and a 1,000bhp racing truck.
Competitive action is provided by the final round of the spectacular Time Attack championship, in which drivers push highly modified cars to the limit over a lap of the Indy circuit in order to record the fastest time. Expect plenty of determination and commitment at the wheel of some of the wildest cars you'll see on track. The competition is just as fierce in the paddock, with preparation equally as important as driving skill, and spectators can inspect the competing machinery at close quarters throughout the day.
Racing action is provided by a combined grid of Civic Cup competitors and the Smarts 4U Racing series for the diminutive city cars. Meanwhile visitors can take their own cars on track too, by booking on the day, subject to availability. Alternatively, thrilling Drift Taxi rides can be purchased, for plenty of sideways fun.
The entertainment isn't just restricted to the track, with trade stands and car club displays filling the venue as well as a safety demonstration from the Police and Fire Brigade services. A live entertainment stage will feature prize giveaways, and there are car audio and show and shine competitions too. Visitors can also have a go at go-karting courtesy of Buckmore Park and even test their car's power on a mobile dyno.
Tickets for Modified Live at Brands Hatch on 29 September are available from £12, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
