Will Palmer joins the Radical SR1 fray this weekend at Snetterton

Wednesday, October 23 2013

Will Palmer will join Sir Chris Hoy as well as champion elect Colin Noble Jr and the rest of a packed grid on the start line for Radical's SR1 Cup finale this weekend (26-27 October) at Snetterton.

Will is set to drive the car previously raced by Brian James in earlier rounds of the series. His primary focus this season has been Ginetta's Junior Championship, in which he has enjoyed an extremely fruitful season, finishing third overall. He has compiled 10 podium places, including a breakthrough maiden win at Rockingham!

Speaking enthusiastically before the event Will commented, "I'm really looking forward to racing in the Radical SR1 Cup this weekend, I've not had a chance to drive the car yet but it looks to be quite a step up from the Ginetta that I'm used to, both in terms of grip and straightline speed, so I can't wait to drive it! I've not really set any specific targets for the weekend but I'd hope I can be competitive, fight for podiums and above all have a great time racing it!"

The Radical SR1 Cup was introduced this season as a cost-effective opportunity for novice racers to take their ARDS test and race in a competitive environment, whilst receiving tuition from Radical's professionals, as part of a package costing just £37,500. Drivers are also briefed on driving techniques and car preparation across two seminars and offered the chance to take part in exclusive Radical trackdays as they prepare for their race debuts.  Another unique feature of the SR1 Cup is practice countdown and start procedures, a first for a club series in this country!

The SR1 Cup shared the paddock with the Radical Clubman's Cup on each of its race dates this season, meaning that expert advice and spare parts have been available at every turn. It also allows these new drivers to establish themselves in the paddock and familiarise themselves in that environment before climbing the next step in Radical's racing ladder.

Tickets for this weekend's MSVR Club Car Championships are available online from £10 with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information please call  0843 453 9000 or click here.
