Night racing returns to Brands Hatch this Saturday

Wednesday, November 20 2013

This weekend (23/24 November) the Brands Hatch 2013 racing season will close with an event featuring the traditional Britcar 'into the night' race on Saturday evening, bringing the spectacle of motorsport in the dark back to the Kent circuit.

Heading a strong multi-class entry for the night race will be two Nissan 370Zs run by GT squad Team RJN on behalf of the Nissan GT Academy. The programme has introduced gamers into motorsport via the popular Gran Turismo series on the Playstation, and the sixth incarnation of this, which features Brands Hatch, is set to be released two weeks after the race.

The race will also feature many Britcar regulars too, with a strong contingent including BMWs and Porsches, plus SEATs and MINIs amongst the competition. There is a championship battle being fought out too, for the Britcar Production Cup. The ING Sport BMW 320 of Ian Lawson, Anthony Wilds and Mike Wilds are leading, but the Intersport MINI Cooper of Danny Russell, this time with specialist Chris Knox sharing driving duties, is in position to pounce at the final round.

Qualifying will take place during the day at 1pm and at 4:05pm as dusk falls, with the race starting just before 5pm.

The night race is preceded by two Britcar 'Winter Warmer' races during the day, which brings a field ranging from production cars to GTs and supercars, including Ferraris, Porsches, Marcoses and a Lotus.

The weekend also features an open sports, sports racing and GT event, plus saloon action from the West Kingsdown Trophy and single seater stars of the future in the final round of the BRDC Formula 4 Winter Series, which takes place over both days.

You can download a timetable for the event here.

Tickets for the Britcar 'into the night' race and BRDC F4 Winter Series at Brands Hatch on 23/24 November are available on the gate for £13 each day, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
