More classic F1 action at Brands Hatch today

Monday, May 27 2013

The sound of Formula 1 cars will reverberate around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix loop today (Monday) as the final day of the Masters Historic Festival takes place. F1 action will again be the star attraction, accounting for two of the day's races, with a race for 50s and 60s era cars in addition to the 70s and 80s race in the offing. Both Peter Horsman and Michael Lyons will be hoping for a repeat performance after winning in their respective categories yesterday. There will also be further demonstration runs for V12 powered machines.

Thoroughbred sportscars from the golden age of motor racing will also be in force, bringing with them a flavour of Le Mans to Kent. The Leo Voyazides/Simon Hadfield Lola T70 will line up on pole position, looking for another victory, after winning last time out in Barcelona. With a grid of 30 cars ready to go the FIA Masters Historic Sports Cars are most definitely set to thrill!

Further action will be provided by some of the most beautiful cars ever to have raced in The Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy, for pre-55 post-war machinery. The Gentleman Drivers will also be in action, showing off a plethora of prized machinery from many of motoring's most revered marques.

The FIA Lurani Trophy for Formula Junior racers will also be in action. Formula Junior was the historic proving ground for aspiring F1 heroes of the past. Closely matched machinery and committed driving typically offers up entertaining single-seater battles.
