All-American menu set to fuel Brands Hatch fans at SpeedFest

Friday, May 31 2013

The American SpeedFest at Brands Hatch on Sunday 9 June isn't just about cars and racing - food and drink is equally as important! All the on-site food outlets and restaurants will be offering a 'Taste of the States' this weekend, with transformed menus showcasing food and drink inspired by our friends across the Atlantic.

The popular Hailwoods and Kentagon restaurants at the track will be selling all-American breakfasts, with pancake stacks accompanied by blueberries, maple syrup and bacon, or breakfast subs to give fans the perfect start to the day. And once lunchtime comes around our Californian taco salad, Caesar and Diner salads, "Killer ribs", chicken strips and potato skins will fill the air around Brands Hatch with the distinctive smells of America.

The Kentagon's evening offerings will be worth saving an American-sized space for and will leave you with some difficult choices to make. You'll have to pick from the BBQ big rack with chunky coleslaw, fresh corn and fries or the New York surf'n'turf of sirloin steak, chicken breast fillet and a mountain of calamari with fries and salad. Alternatively there's chargrilled blackened salmon basted in Cajun spices, or a Mexican salad complete with jalapenos and tortilla crisps with tequila and lime dressing. There's even an 'American SpeedFest Burger' with smoked bacon, emmental cheese, caramelized onion and sautéed mushrooms for those wanting some classic American fast food.

Adding its own smoky aroma will be the International BBQ Network's Americana Q BBQ competition. Some of the best BBQers in the UK will be put to the test in four categories across the weekend, and they'll be hoping their culinary skills will book them a place at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas.

The hardier SpeedFest-goers can even test how strong their own stomachs are with a series of eating contests - but they're not for the faint-hearted! A hotdog eating competition will see how many hotdogs you can eat in three minutes, and a hot wing eating contest will test how much spice you can take!

Meanwhile back on the race track the Euro-Racecar NASCAR Touring Series will be headlining the American-themed racing bill on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Plus, there are monster trucks, a family Fun Zone, live music, a Red Devils parachute display, a mammoth display of 600+ American cars and on track demonstrations from genuine NASCAR cars to keep the whole family entertained.

Adult tickets for SpeedFest on Sunday 9 June are available in advance for £18; kids 12 years and under get in free! Find out more here or www.speedfest.co.uk.
