BRDC F4 to run Privateers’ Cup for 2013 with £5,000 prize fund

Thursday, September 27 2012

The BRDC Formula 4 Championship is pleased to confirm it will run a Privateers' Cup for its inaugural season, in association with Yoozoom Telecom, with the winning driver receiving a prize of £5,000.

Aimed at 'dads and lads' entries, the Privateer Cup will run alongside the main drivers' championship and is supported by the Leeds-based telecommunications company, whose Managing Director Alex Deighton is a former Formula First champion and McLaren Autosport award finalist.

The reward is in addition to the prize package already announced which includes a £25,000 scholarship to the overall winner, a test with Formula 3 squad Carlin and a visit to the renowned McLaren Technology Centre in Woking for the six leading drivers mid-season.

Alex Deighton said: "We're very pleased to be a part of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship which we know is going to be a fantastic entry level formula for up and coming young drivers with great cars, the right budgets and plenty of racing action. We've been looking at UK motorsports to promote our business and F4 gave us the opportunity we were looking for that matches the Yoozoom brand - young, dynamic and very exciting. It's our pleasure to put our name to the Privateers' Cup as I remember what it was like to raise a budget!"

Jonathan Palmer, Formula 4 Series Director, said: "I'm delighted Alex and Yoozoom have chosen to support BRDC F4 and recognised its potential to help promote its brand. We really appreciate Yoozoom's contribution and look forward to their involvement in BRDC F4."

During the season, all privateer entrants will also carry Yoozoom branding on their car's rear wing endplates.
