American Falco Wauer joins BRDC Formula 4 Championship

Thursday, September 20 2012

Falco Wauer, aged 16, has become the latest driver to commit to the BRDC Formula 4 Championship ahead of its inaugural season next year. This brings the total number of cars sold since Monday to six - the MTECH team have already confirmed their participation with two cars, and Charlie Robertson will enter with HHC Motorsport. Another two privateers have also purchased cars and further details will be announced in the coming days.

Wauer brings with him a broad range of racing experience following outings in Formula Ford in the UK and Europe and also Formula Renault BARC. He began karting in Norway at the age of 11 before racing in Italy and then switching to single seaters. Since then he's enjoyed several race wins and podiums including an impressive six victories and seven poles from just eight 750 Motor Club Formula 4 races this year, together with two podiums in Formula Ford Eurocup at Spa and Zandvoort.

Wauer said: "When MSV announced the new BRDC Formula 4 Championship I knew it would be the best championship for my level of experience and also to help me progress towards achieving my goal of becoming a professional racing driver and I can't wait to begin racing!"

Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of series organisers MSV, said: "Falco is another young driver to show great talent in everything he has raced. F4 is the perfect series for him to move up to and I've no doubt he will make best use of what will be the most level playing field in junior racing to try and prove F1 is a realistic target."

Orders for the new F4 car are now being taken with deliveries made on a first come first served basis from the end of January 2013.
