James Greenway joins BRDC Formula 4 field for 2013

Friday, October 26 2012

British racer James Greenway has confirmed his place on next year's BRDC Formula 4 grid, racing as one of three privateer entrants.

The 22-year-old from Kildwick, West Yorkshire, will make his car racing debut and plans to run under the banner of Frank T Greenway Racing. James progresses into cars from a successful karting background which started in 2006. He competed in the Super 1 National Rotax Max Championship before a switch to the Rotax Max Euro Challenge in 2009. As a regular race-winner and championship contender, the following season culminated in him winning the European Rotax Winter Cup. James was forced to take a break from competition for the 2011 season due to health issues, but now fully fit he's eager to take on his next challenge of slicks and wings racing with the BRDC F4.The team will be headed by James's father Frank, who previously ran his own successful saloon car team during the 1990s.

Greenway -CarJames said: "Next year will be the first venture into single seaters for both of us so we're aware we need to hit the ground running. We're confident it's going to be a great series and being the first season everyone will start on a level playing field. We intend to start testing as early as February with a thorough programme planned - we can't wait to take delivery of the car."

Jonathan Palmer, F4 Series Director, said: "I'm delighted that James and his father Frank will be running their own car in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship.  With sealed engines, gearboxes and dampers, as well as mandatory use of only F4 specified parts, private entrants need not be disadvantaged and should be able run cars competitively alongside established teams."
