Cadwell Park to host round one of new series for novice riders

Thursday, March 29 2012

There's just one month to go until the inaugural round of the Club MSV Bike Trackday Trophy at Cadwell Park (Sunday 29 April) and you still have a chance to be on the grid! The new series, aimed at introducing new riders to motorsport, follows a similar initiative that has introduced over 100 drivers into racing for the first time.

The process of making the leap from trackdays to racing is straightforward and riders can follow Club MSV's step-by-step process, with guidance just a phone call away. There's still time to get ready for the opening round, with official trackday sessions on 1 and 28 April to give you further time to practice at Cadwell Park.

The Bike Trackday Trophy runs to two main classes for bikes pre and post year 2000, with two further classes within each for engine capacity.

Races follow two formats. For solo riders there will be a 45 minute race with a three hour race for teams of two, three or four riders. All teams must have at least one novice rider who has competed in less than 10 races. Teaming up shares the cost of competing, whilst qualifying and races take place on the same day to cut down on the need for overnight accommodation.

The series' inaugural round takes place at the bikers' mecca, Cadwell Park on Sunday 29 April, with further rounds at Snetterton on 5 June and Brands Hatch on 11 August, before a return to Lincolnshire's mini-Nürburgring on 6 October for the final round.

Club MSV Manager Alex Baker said: "With just a month until the opening round, we're really excited about the start of the new series. The car Trackday Trophy has been a huge success and after just two years its influence is already starting to be felt in the motorsport world as former competitors graduate to new series and championships. We're looking forward to a similar effect in the two-wheeled arena."
