MCE BSB returns to Oulton Park as title fight heats up

Wednesday, June 27 2012

The breathtaking MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship returns to Cheshire in less than two weeks' time (6/7/8 July) as some of the world's leading riders get set to battle for victory in a triple-header event at one of the toughest circuits on the calendar.

The sight of 200bhp Superbikes racing hard in the glorious parkland setting of Oulton Park is always a highlight of the summer, and thousands of fans will flock to the circuit to watch the latest round of an enthralling season. The 2012 championship has already produced seven different race winners from four different manufacturers and defending champion Tommy Hill heads to Cheshire leading the overall standings for Swan Yamaha from double title winner Shane 'Shakey' Byrne. Australian Josh Brookes and Michael Laverty are not far behind and are determined to add another win to their title assault.

Hill said: "We had two podium finishes last time out at Knockhill which is good although as a racer you always want to win. We have been consistent so far and I know the races will be tough as you can never underestimate anybody as there are so many riders capable of winning. We are even hungrier for Oulton Park now to try and get the Swan Yamaha back on the top step of the podium."

Ellesmere Port's Jenny Tinmouth remains the country's fastest female racer and she will be seeking three point-scoring finishes at her home round whilst the Liverpool-based Quattro Plant Kawasaki team will be targeting the top five in MCE BSB. In the support classes the local riders will also be aiming high as Liverpool's Steve Brogan lines up in the Superstock 1000 series and Philip Wakefield (Sandbach) and Joe Francis (Chester) compete in the Monster Energy Motostar Championship.

In addition to the three MCE BSB races (first on Saturday, two on Sunday) there will also be racing from the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 and 600 Championships, the Monster Energy Motostar Championship and the one make Ducati 848 Challenge. Fans can also meet the riders during a free of charge pit walk on Sunday's raceday and big screens around the circuit mean you won't miss any of the action.

Advance adult tickets for main raceday cost from £25 online in advance with children aged 12 and under free. For more information and to book visit www.oultonpark.co.uk or call 0843 453 9000.
