Pommer sets the pace once more in Portimão

Thursday, April 26 2012

Markus Pommer led the way once again during today's (Thursday) second Formula Two test session at Portimão, ahead of Mihai Marinescu and Swiss teenager Mathéo Tuscher.

The wet conditions remained for the second 55-minute stint with the 21-year-old edging out his nearest rival by almost half a second. British driver Dino Zamparelli continued his strong pace to finish fourth with fellow countryman Luciano Bacheta improving from his P12 in the opening session to complete the top five.

The session's early pace-setter was Tuscher who lapped ahead of Bacheta and Pommer before a brief stoppage following a spin by Parthiva Sureshwaren.
When the action resumed it was Pommer on top ahead of Kevin Mirocha with the light drizzle continuing to fall. The German then went quicker and the first driver to break into the 1:48s. Tuscher, Bacheta and Christopher Zanella all tracked him closely with newcomer Victor Guerin also showing good pace in eighth

At the chequered flag it was Marinescu who improved the most to go P2 and edge out Tuscher with David Zhu impressing in sixth ahead of Daniel McKenzie. Zanella ended eighth with Mirocha taking ninth and Brazilian Guerin rounding off the top 10.

The next test session gets underway at 14:00 (local time) with full coverage on the F2 website.
