Monras leads the way in second test session

Thursday, October 27 2011

Miki Monras was again the quickest man during today's (Thursday) second official FIA Formula Two test session in Barcelona, ahead of the final rounds of the 2011 season.

The 19-year-old posted a best time of 1:39.593s around the Circuit de Catalunya, venue for rounds 15 and 16 this weekend, closely followed - by a mere 0.039s - in second place by Brit Jack Clarke and then Dane Mikkel Mac.

On a dry but overcast circuit it was Monras who set the early pace around the 4.655km F1 circuit, lapping in the mid 1:39s with Clarke and Mihai Marinescu just a fraction off the Spaniard's pace.

Benjamin Lariche, Christopher Zanella and Thiemo Storz were all showing good pace for the 50-minute session too along with Dutchman Kelvin Snoeks.

In the end it was Snoeks and Marinescu who rounded out the top five followed by Frenchman Lariche. Tobias Hegewald secured seventh place with Christopher Zanella, who is in the battle for the runner-up spot this weekend, eighth fastest. German Thiemo Storz and Brit Alex Brundle completed the top 10 for the test session with today's third stint taking place at 15:05 (local time).
