New Formula Ford tests at Brands Hatch

Wednesday, November 16 2011

The brand new 2012 Formula Ford chassis made a return appearance at Brands Hatch today (16 October), following a run in the hands of reigning champion Scott Malvern at the recent Formula Ford Festival.

The chassis represents a new era for the legendary formula, that has nurtured talents from Emerson Fittipaldi to 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button. The British Championship remains an important addition to a driver's CV, as does the Formula Ford Festival, which is a key indicator of a world-class talent.

The FIA safety compliant chassis has been designed for use across the globe in various national championships. Remaining bereft of wings, the formula teaches drivers fresh out of karts about suspension setups before they move onto the more complex area of aerodynamics. Housing a 1600cc turbocharged engine and six-speed sequential transmission, a steel tubular design ensures that the cost of running the car remains low.

However whilst the car has been subject to an extensive research and design process, testing remains an essential part of the development programme. Even in an age of advanced simulation techniques, track time is invaluable to refining both new concepts and proven designs. MSV's circuits provide a range of days and formats to suit all requirements. Both semi exclusive tests that provide maximum track time, and cost-effective sessioned days can be booked and with a range of circuits, MSV can provide the ideal solution.
