Final day of Brands Hatch Masters Historic Festival full of action

Monday, May 30 2011

The final day of action at the Brands Hatch Masters Historic Festival commences shortly today, with a packed day of racing.

The first race is the 120-minute Gentlemen Drivers race for pre-66 GT cars and with a huge grid of cars filling the Grand Prix circuit is expected to be a thriller. Cobras, Triumphs, Lotuses, MGs, Porsches and more face a large E-Type entry in the car's 50th anniversary year.

The GT cars' bigger cousins in Sports Racing Masters and World Sportscars also feature, with GT40s, McLarens, Coopers, Chevrons, Lolas and Alfa Romeos competing.

Sticking with the sportscar theme, the Interserie Revival race will be a treat, with three sonorous Matras the highlight of a field that sees Brands Hatch 1000km winner John Fitzpatrick taking to the wheel of one of the legendary BMW CSL 'Batmobiles'.

The Grand Prix Masters race is sure to be a highlight for many, with a grid containing cars from Tyrrell, Williams, McLaren and Lotus. The wail of Cosworth DFVs is complemented by the 90s screamers from Williams and Benetton in the demonstration runs, as Damon Hill's World Championship-winning car is joined by two of Michael Schumacher's early racers. The cars that featured in the careers of Brazilian World Champions Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna will also be on track.

Finally, whilst the cars are less spectacular, the racing in the Pre-66 Mini sprint race is sure to be even more intense and completes an exciting day of racing that starts at 9:15am.

Tickets for the Masters Historic Festival at Brands Hatch are available on the gate for £21 on Sunday and Monday with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click on the link below.
