Club MSV launches How Fast events at Bedford

Monday, June 27 2011

Club MSV, the trackday organising arm of major UK circuit owner MotorSport Vision, has launched How Fast, a new event for drivers to explore the full performance of their cars and compare their driving skills with others.

How Fast is aimed at drivers who crave an element of competition, but want to be able to use their everyday road car. Thousands of drivers take part in trackdays each year but such events are non-competitive and timing is banned. Currently running exclusively at Bedford Autodrome with its huge run off areas and lack of barriers, How Fast allows drivers to put themselves and their cars against the clock in a safe and controlled environment.

Events start with a practice session, and one-to-one tuition from qualified race instructors is available for those who need advice on honing their skills. Competitors will then drive the 1.8 mile Bedford Autodrome West circuit as fast as possible and set a time for the How Fast league table, which will be published on the How Fast website. All timed sessions will run with a maximum of three cars on circuit at anyone time, further ensuring drivers' safety.

As the leaderboard develops, it will be split into several classes, opening up the competition to a wide range of cars and drivers, rather than just those with the highest performance vehicles. To give the drivers on the first few events something to aim for, the test times achieved on the circuit by evo magazine have been published on the How Fast website with their kind permission

Alex Baker of Club MSV said: "We're really excited about this new event. Timing is obviously prohibited on trackdays but How Fast gives everyone the chance to pitch their driving and their cars against other like-minded drivers in the UK. I can't wait to see the league table develops and look forward to the battle for the top slots!"
