Fullalove completes Brands Hatch GP Lotus Cup double

Monday, July 25 2011

Lotus 211 driver Mark Fullalove enjoyed a perfect weekend as he recorded an impressive double victory in the Lotus Cup UK/Europe at Brands Hatch on July 22-24.

The Lotus Cup UK and Lotus Cup Europe joined forces to create a huge entry of more than 40 cars for two races in support of the FIA Formula Two Championship.

Mark Fullalove's Lotus 211 claimed pole position for today's race by producing an impressive pace around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

The former British Touring Car driver lapped the 2.3 mile circuit in a best time of 1.39.012s, which was 0.490s quicker than the 211 of Steve Williams. Frenchman Phillippe Loup was third quickest and he was joined on the second row by Pete Storey. David Fenn's Motorsport Elise was the best of the rest in sixth position with Remi Pochauvin, the man who has dominated the series this season, in seventh. The top Evora runner was Greg Rasse in ninth position.

Race One

Fullalove successfully converted his pole position into a dominant race win in race one at Brands Hatch.

A bumper entry of cars took to the grid for the race which was dominated by Fullalove. The man on the move was Rob Fenn in the Motorsport Elise, as he stormed up to third and he then set his sights on second spot occupied by Steve Williams.

Fullalove continued to extend his lead in the 211 and he proved to be uncatchable, as he took the chequered flag from Williams and Fenn. However, the battle for fourth raged until the finish line and it was Christophe Lisandre who claimed the position. Greg Rasse took the honours in the Evora class while Steve Quick was the first Production Class runner home.

Race Two

Mark Fullalove completed a lights to flag drive to record a deserved double victory in the Lotus Cup UK/Europe race on Sunday.

Fullalove made no mistake at the start as he lead the field into Paddock Hill Bend. The Saffron Walden driver was untroubled at the front and he went on to claim a comfortable win, but the drive of the day belonged to Jon Walker. The 211 driver crossed the line in second position after coming from the back of the grid, but he was given a ten second penalty after the race and dropped to third, promoting Steve Williams to second.

David Fenn endured an eventful race as he recovered from spinning out of ninth position to come home the best of the non 211's in fifth place. Greg Rasse was the leading Evora runner in sixth and Ken Savage won the production class.
