Royal Wedding fever at Brands Hatch charity rally launch

Tuesday, April 26 2011

Brands Hatch will host the launch of the 2011 'Scumrun' charity banger rally this Thursday (28 April), which raises money for the Dreams Come True charity.

The event, which is now in its sixth year, challenges competitors to take part in a four-day rally through Europe in a car costing no more than £500, with each leg kept secret until just before the drivers set off for the day.

This years Scumrun will feature more than 100 cars including a fire engine and an original 1968 Morris Minor. Several teams will also be celebrating the launch in fancy dress, with two teams embracing the impending Royal wedding by dressing up as Prince William and Kate Middleton respectively.

Supporting the launch event will be model Katie Green, who will accompany two families that have benefitted from the service that Dreams Come True provides.

Scumrun organiser Edward White said: "Dreams Come True are very pleased to be involved with the Scumrun Charity Rally in 2011. We are hoping to raise a significant amount of funds over the event to help fulfill terminally and seriously ill childrens' dreams become a reality. This will be an absolutely magical event for the children, families, participants and the charity and we wish everyone good luck with their fundraising and enjoy the mystery destinations!"

The 2011 Scumrun will begin with a parade lap of the Brands Hatch Indy circuit before all 100 cars depart for a late night ferry to France.
