Ferrari 458 confirms Snetterton GT Trophy debut

Tuesday, April 26 2011

The new Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 will make its GT Trophy Endurance Series at Snetterton on Bank Holiday Monday (2 May), after the FF Corse team confirmed it will run the supercar in this weekend's MSVR Club Car Championships.

FF Corse took delivery of the limited edition 458 this week after final build and preparations were completed in Michelotto, Italy.

Ferrari factory driver Gianmaria Bruni performed the initial installation lap, and the car has also completed an initial shakedown test before being shipped to the UK.

The Mac Steel-backed car will make its GT Trophy debut on Monday in the hands of Leon Price and Rob Barff, who have extensive experience of both Le Mans Prototype and GT racing between them. The pair also have a winning track record in the series, clinching victory in a Ferrari 430 at Donington Park earlier this month.

"It's fabulous to see such stunning cars supporting our series," said Marc Haynes, managing director of GT Trophy organisers Bute Motorsport. "The 458 looks every bit as impressive as its media hype would lead you to believe and will create huge interest for the spectators."

Snetterton will feature the debut of a new race format for the GT Trophy: a single race split into two hour-long halves with an hour's intermission in between. This will give spectators the opportunity two enjoy two starts, as well as the drama of teams preparing their car between sessions.

The GT Trophy will be supported by action from the MSV F3 Cup, Club MSV Trackday Trophy, and a Sports and Sports Racing event.

Tickets for the MSVR Club Car Championships at Snetterton on Monday 2 May are available on the gate for £13 for adults. Entry is free for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click on the link below.
