Pressure mounts on BSB Title Fighters ahead of Oulton Park Showdown

Sunday, September 26 2010

Tommy Hill still leads the standings in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship following the penultimate round at Silverstone, but his advantage has been slashed by HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes and Ryuichi Kiyonari as the pressure mounts on the six title contenders.

Hill arrived at Silverstone with a sixteen point advantage but the Worx Crescent Suzuki rider failed to finish on the podium in either race and experienced one of his toughest weekends of the season as the HM Plant Honda riders fought back - with Brookes doubling up on podiums to move into second in the overall standings.

Michael Laverty on the Relentless Suzuki was back on the podium in race one but his consistent run of podiums was ended when he crashed out of the second race on the opening lap.

Ridersmotorcycles.com Ducati's Michael Rutter took the victory in the opening race but he also crashed out of contention in race two whilst Ryuichi Kiyonari elevated himself to third with a storming second place in the final race of the day.
