Final event to take place on current Snetterton circuit configuration

Saturday, November 20 2010

Members of the public will enjoy their final chance to drive Snetterton's current circuit configuration today (Saturday), before significant development work begins to create a new layout ahead of the 2011 season.

The present circuit has been in use since 1974, and yesterday (Friday) hosted its final testing session. This will be followed by a car trackday tomorrow - the final public event this year - before construction work begins on Monday to create the new 300 circuit, which will feature three different layouts.

Snetterton's 300 circuit plans represent the biggest development the circuit has undergone since MotorSport Vision took over the track in 2004. It will be completed in time for the start of 2011 motorsport season, which also marks the 60th anniversary of the venue.

"Next year, Snetterton circuit celebrates 60 continuous years of motorsport with this major track development," said Circuit Manager Jamie Hopper. "The creation of three new circuit layouts will mean we can offer a wide variety of options for both testing and trackday customers during the week, and race competitors more challenges at the weekend. Spectators too, will be able to view more of the circuit, and with the new configurations designed to provide more opportunity for overtaking, we should be in for a cracking racing season next year!"
