Top teams prepare for Le Mans with Snetterton test

Friday, May 28 2010

The Le Mans 24 hour race is one of the most prestigious events on the motorsport calendar, and two leading teams undertook some final testing at Snetterton this week to finalise their set-up ahead of the French endurance event on 12/13 June.

British squad RML will race a Lola HPD Coupé in the LMP2 class, with home-grown duo Mike Newton and Andy Wallace behind the wheel alongside Brazilian Thomas Erdos.

RML Team Manager Phil Barker was pleased with the outfit's final progress: "the test was very productive and we have achieved everything we wanted in preparation for Le Mans," he said.

"Snetterton is particularly helpful for our preparations as the long straights allow you to evaluate your low downforce set-up ready for Le Mans," Barker added.

RML were joined by another UK team, Strakka, at the Norfolk track this week. Strakka will also compete in the LMP2 class, driving a Honda Performance Development (HPD) ARX-01 sports prototype piloted by Mick Leventis, Danny Watts and Jonny Kane.
