Smart cars gear up for 'Their Finest Hour' at Masters Festival

Thursday, May 27 2010

In addition to a bumper programme of classic car action, the Masters Historic Festival will feature special entertainment from a group of Smart cars on Bank Holiday Monday (31 May) to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

The group of six vehicles - known as 'Their Finest Hour' - will be performing a choreographed Battle of Britain tribute around the Kent circuit to a stirring patriotic soundtrack.

Three Spitfire-liveried machines known as 'Smartfires' will take on three German 'Messersmarts' in a mock dogfight during the lunch break at 12.35pm.

"Their Finest Hour is an initiative that we are taking around the country to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and to educate and raise awareness of this most significant event in our history," said Their Finest Hour's Geoff Hall.

The organisation will also be donating some of its profits to the RAF Benevolent Fund at the end of the year.

Monday's instalment of the Masters Historic Festival will also feature racing from the Grand Prix Masters and World Sportscar Masters Series, plus pre-66 Minis and the Sports Racing Masters competition.

Tickets for the Masters Historic Festival at Brands Hatch on 29/30/31 May are available on the gate from £12 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
