Brands Hatch hosts ground-breaking giant art project

Friday, May 28 2010

Motorsport artist Ian Cook will be creating a unique piece of artwork at Brands Hatch today (Friday) using racing vehicles, and you can follow the development of his painting live online throughout the day.

Cook has been commissioned by oil and car care company Comma to create a unique piece of art to celebrate the launch of its biggest ever promotion, which will see Comma giving away £2 million worth of tickets for race events at MotorSport Vision's four circuits - Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Oulton Park and Cadwell Park.

The promotion is open to customers buying packs of Comma's Performance Motor Oil range of products. Each customer will get a unique code, which they can use to get free tickets to over 100 events by visiting www.commaoil.com/tickets.

Ian, well known in motoring circles for using remote control cars as his paintbrushes, will - for the first time ever - use real racing cars as his medium as he creates a unique 10m x 5m painting that illustrates the huge variety of motorsport disciplines race fans will see for free as a result of the promotion.

Having done the detail work with his traditional remote control car method, Ian will today finish the painting using the wheels of a go kart, a BMCRC racing motorbike, an FIA Formula Two Championship single-seater, a Caterham R300 sportscar and a British Racing Truck!

Ian will be starting work at around 9am and aims to finish the mammoth artwork at around 5pm. You can watch Ian's progress on this ambitious and ground-breaking project live by clicking on the link below.
