Cadwell Park launches 2010 season

Wednesday, March 24 2010

Ahead of its busiest ever season in 2010, riders and drivers from all the major championships visiting Cadwell Park this year gathered at the circuit yesterday (Wednesday 24 March) for an official season launch event.

Cadwell Park will host 36 meetings in 2010, and among the top talents marking the circuit's season launch were six leading riders from the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship: Louth-based HM Plant Honda duo Ryuichi Kiyonari and Josh Brookes - the latter expressing his excitement at the prospect of getting airborne over the mountain on his first race outing at the circuit - Worx Crescent Suzuki's Tommy Hill and Swan Honda's James Ellison.

BSB will visit Cadwell Park twice this season, and the quartet of riders performed some exclusive demonstration laps to whet the appetite of the season launch guests, as well as undertaking some private testing during the afternoon.

Cadwell Park also welcomes a new event in 2010 - the Modified Live performance car festival, and a selection of tuned vehicles and drift cars took to the track for some sensational displays of action today.

Other activities included a welcome speech from MSV's Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer and demonstrations from turbocharged Superkarts, featuring local talents James O'Reilly and Steven and Stuart Parker among the line-up. The Vintage Sports-Car Club provided an eclectic mix of vehicles, whilst there was a display of classic bikes and three-wheelers courtesy of the Vintage Motorcycle Club.

Also present were several series organised by MSVR, the racing division of MotorSport Vision, including the new Trofeo Abarth 500 GB Championship, which will support BSB at Cadwell Park in May. Championship co-ordinator Paolo Callea announced the full entry list for the first time today, which includes 2008 Renault Clio Cup Champion Ben Winrow and former British Touring Car racer Fiona Leggate. The Toyo Tires Racing Saloons, Golf GTI Championship, VAG Trophy and Production BMW Championship were also present.
