Brookes makes Cadwell Park debut

Wednesday, March 24 2010

There are less than ten days to go until the 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship kicks off at Brands Hatch on Easter weekend (2/3/4/5 April) and some of the teams have been testing at Cadwell Park ahead of round one.

Josh Brookes made his circuit debut at Cadwell Park, having missed the round there last season, and clearly wasn't daunted by the famous 'Mountain' section as he got airborne on the HM Plant Honda yesterday.

Brookes went on to rack up 122 laps, he was joined on track by a host of main championship rivals including Swan Honda's James Ellison and Stuart Easton plus Worx Crescent Suzuki's Tommy Hill and Relentless Suzuki's Michael Laverty and Alastair Seeley.

Michael Rutter and Martin Jessopp also took the opportunity to clock up more mileage on the Ridersmotorcycles.com Ducati ahead of the Brands Hatch Easter opener.

Testing was interrupted when Stuart Easton crashed at Charlie's Corner. With a suspected leg injury the Scotsman was flown to Lincoln Hospital for further assessment and treatment. Prior to his accident Easton had been lapping in the 1m:29s bracket, closely matched by Alistair Seeley, experiencing Cadwell Park for the first time on a full-blown Superbike.

The new Splitlath Aprilia team made massive progress during the day with the RSV4; running with the Motec ECU rider Joe Burns believes the bike is running about 15bhp more than when they tested in Spain.

HM Plant Honda, Swan Honda and Worx Crescent Suzuki are back on track today (Wednesday).
