Cadwell Park gears up for enthralling weekend of club bike racing

Sunday, June 27 2010

The Derby Phoenix Motor Cycle Club visits the undulating Cadwell Park circuit this weekend (3/4 July) for two days of club bike action.

Last time out at Anglesey, Charlie Wilson took his thirteenth consecutive Thunderbike win in style on his old carburetted Yamaha 1000, grabbing the lead on the penultimate lap of the final race.

Also in action this weekend include the dramatic side cars. The F1 class was dominated by Barry James/Carl Morgan's LCR Suzuki 1000 in Anglesey, while the F2 races provided some great racing, with Steve Hicks/PJ McLaverty and Paul Rogers/Kevin Jones securing wins.

Richie Welsh looks to be storming his way to the F400 Championship crown, after securing four wins at Anglesey, while reigning Pre-Injection 600 champion Mark Dicken got his campaign back on track with three wins and a lap record.

David Young took a hat trick of wins in the Steel Frame 600 class, but was prevented from gaining a clean sweep by rookie Jamie Gillion.

Action starts at 9.00am on both days, with a packed schedule featuring 12 races on Saturday and 17 on Sunday.

Tickets for the Derby Phoenix at Cadwell Park on 03/04 July are available from £10 for adults, with free entry for children ages 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
