British GT grid gathers strength

Thursday, January 14 2010

Entries are rolling in for the 2010 Avon Tyres British GT Championship, with Ferrari, Aston Martin and Dodge Viper among the marques set to appear at the Oulton Park season opener over Easter weekend (3/5 April).

Chad Racing has announced that it will run a Ferrari 430 Scuderia in the hands of rapid youngster Daniel Brown, who impressed competitors and spectators alike when he secured pole position and double victory on his British GT debut at Oulton Park last year.

The 18-year-old will be partnered by experienced racer Chris Hyman, and Chad Racing is also hoping to run a second car in 2010.

Piers Masarati, Chad Racing team manager, said: "I'm looking forward to helping develop Daniel's driving. In testing he has been everything I expected, quick and consistent, and paired with Chris, who was so quick in Formula Palmer Audi and British GT last year, they will be a force in the championship."

ABG Motorsport's Craig Wilkins and Aaron Scott have also confirmed that they will return in their GT3 Dodge Viper, after narrowly missing out on the title in 2009, and the pairing are already targeting overall glory.

"We had something of a love/hate relationship with the Viper in 2009," said Scott, "but we are both very excited about our prospects for the coming season."

In addition, new team Vantage Racing will join the grid in an Aston Martin DBRS9, driven by team principal Tom Black and British GT race winner Stuart Hall.

American team United Autosports has also confirmed that it will make a one-off appearance in the British GT Championship at Oulton Park, running a pair of Audi R8s.

The Oulton Park season opener will feature two one-hour endurance races from the British GT Championship in a joint headline meeting with the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series.

Tickets for the British F3 and GT Championships at Oulton Park on 3/5 April cost from £17 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or click on the link below.
